I started vw buggin about 1976, when my father and I built my first buggy. He worked at Mcdonald Douglas, so if i needed tubing or a shut off valve or some other off the wall part, he would usually come up with it.Between 1976 and 1984, we built approx. 4 buggies. I have forgotten how much i liked just driveing down the road, and seeing a trail, and being able to follow it and see where it went. Now days, everything is marked with purple, and people want you to stay off these trails, and that is understandable.
